NATIONAL BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTER (NBTC)

The National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC) is a not-for-profit organization established as a result of the Egyptian-Swiss Project for the restructuring of Blood Transfusion Services in Egypt.

  • In 1996, the Swiss government offered to help Egypt improve and upgrade its blood transfusion services by converting the small scale, low quality hospital-based blood banks into regionalized large scale blood banks employing a more efficient manpower base to guarantee quality collecting, testing and processing of blood.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledged NBTC as a certified trainer and gave it the “Center of Excellence Award” in 2002 and the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) has recognized it as an ideal center for Hemophilia treatment.

The headquarter is located in Giza and supervises a network of 23 Regional Blood Transfusion Centers across Egypt.

UNITED NATION VOLUNTEERS (UNV)
